Here’s an old movie I dug up that I thought people would enjoy. Back in 2004 I was working for a hedge fund in NYC called Telemetry Investments. I set up a webcam with Motion to surveil the company server room and this movie is a capture from that camera. It’s jerky because Motion only takes one picture per second. Motion analyzes the scene and only starts recording when motion is detected. This makes it a great low-cost security tool.
Anyway, here I am arguing with the technician who installed the security system for the office. I recall that we kept having problems with the system where the controller would freeze up so we couldn’t open the front door. You can probably detect my frustration in this little scene.
Eventually the security people upgraded the firmware and the problem went away. In general security systems have terrible software.
I notice I had more hair back then…

A retired Soviet spy satellite (well, for stereoscopic imaging in 1990 for military cartographic photography), this Zenit 8 "Oblik" of the Kosmos 2083 mission was brought out in the Estonian defence exhibition (Eesti Kaitsevägi) in Tartu where I got to see it.
Besides holding the (failing) back-up shipboard computer of the crashed Ariane 5, this is the coolest space thing I’ve seen.
