HAARP-Holes In Heaven Pt 5

Are we making Holes in Heaven? HAARP (High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program) is a controversial high frequency radio transmitter, or “ioniospheric heater,” which is believed to be descended from the works of Nikola Tesla and is operated by the U.S. Navy/Air Force and Phillip Laboratories in remote Gakona, Alaska. Using HAARP, the military can focus a billion-watt pulsed radio beam into our upper atmosphere, ostensibly for ionospheric research. This allows us to “see” into the Earth, detecting anything from oil reserves to underground missile silos. However, several researchers claim HAARP poses many dangers, including blowing thirty-mile holes in the Earth’s upper atmosphere. They also warn of possible disruption of the subtle magnetic energies of our Earth and ourselves.

The Battle at the Moons of Hell (Helfort’s War: Book I)
The Battle at the Moons of Hell (Helfort's War: Book I) “A planet-stomping space opera that bursts off the page like a tactical nuke.”
–John Birmingham, author of Weapons of Choice

The Hammer Worlds–the most brutal and oppressive interstellar government in the universe–have hijacked the Federated Worlds cruise ship Mumtaz, seizing its valuable terraforming cargo and damning its passengers to mining the moons of the prison planet known as Hell.

For Junior Lieutenant Michael Helfort and the crew aboard deep space scout vessel 387, the mission is clear: infiltrate enemy territory, locate the Mumtaz, and rescue the prisoners.

The odds are appalling, and the damage will probably be fatal, but victory is nonnegotiable–especially for Helfort, whose mother and sister were on the Mumtaz.

And Michael Helfort will be damned if he’ll let his family rot on the moons of Hell.

By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
Published: July 9, 2007
ALBUQUERQUE, July 8 (AP) — Fred T. Saberhagen, a science fiction and fantasy writer best known for his “Berserker” series, about intelligent machines out to destroy the human race, died on June 29, 2007 at his home here. He was 77.

The cause was prostate cancer, said his son Tom.

Mr. Saberhagen, who began publishing in the 1960s, wrote 60 novels and several collections. He also edited three short-story collections and collaborated on three novels.

His 1967 book, “Berserker,” a collection of stories about giant warships invading with the intent to destroy all life, was the springboard for what became a long and popular series.

He is also known for a series of adventures written from Dracula’s point of view, said a family friend, Patricia Rogers, and for his “Swords” and “Lost Swords” stories. The latest, “Ardneh’s Sword,” was published last year.

Born and raised in Chicago, Mr. Saberhagen served in the Air Force, worked as a civilian electronics technician and wrote and edited articles on science and technology for the Encyclopaedia Britannica before moving on to fiction. He worked for the encyclopedia from 1967 to 1974.

In addition to his son Tom, of Falls Church, Va., his survivors include his wife, Joan Spicci Saberhagen; a daughter Jill, of Moriarty, N.M.; a son, Eric, of Missoula, Mont.; and seven grandchildren

Germany’s Tiger Tanks - Vk45 to Tiger II: Design, Production & Modifications (Schiffer Military History)
Germany's Tiger Tanks - Vk45 to Tiger II: Design, Production & Modifications (Schiffer Military History) This new volume covers development from the VK 45.02(P), VK 45.03(H) to the modifications under design for the Tiger II at the end of the war. All of this illustrated with scale drawings by Hilary L. Doyle combined with drawings, sketches, and photographs depicting external modifications is well as internal views. Over twenty years of intensive research went into finding the original documents needed to create this new history on the development, characteristics, and tactical capabilities of the Tiger series. Tom Jentz has conducted an exhaustive search for suviving records of the design/assembly firms (including Henschel, Krupp, Nibelungenwerk, Porsche, and Wegmann), the Heeres-Waffenamt, the D656 series of manuals on the Tiger, and the war diaries and operations reports from the German units. The written records were supplemented by examining thousands of photos. On-sight research into almost all the surviving Tigers provided details that could only be obtained from actual specimens. New information was found on the evolution of the heavy tank series, the key decisons on the design of the Tigers, the significant modifications made during the production runs, production statistics, the Tigers characteristics and tactical capabilities, an exact accounting of the issue of the Tigers to the combat units, and combat account written directly after the actions. Tom Jentz is also the author of Germany’s Tiger Tanks: Tiger I & II - Combat Tactics; Germany’s Panther Tank: The Quest for Combat Supremacy; Panzertruppen 1933-1942; and Panzertruppen 1943-1945 (all four titles are available from Schiffer Publishing Ltd.).

Military Operations Research: Quantitative Decision Making (International Series in Operations Research & Management Science)
Military Operations Research: Quantitative Decision Making (International Series in Operations Research & Management Science) The field of Operations Research (OR) grew out of World War II operations to improve the effectiveness of newly introduced weapons and equipment, and to solve logistical problems for the war effort. Since its beginnings, OR has rapidly become a robust set of decision-making methodologies widely used in business, engineering, and governmental sectors. Nevertheless, many of OR’s military and defense contributions have remained confined to classified reports.
This book is a systematic, state-of-the-art treatment of military operations research (MOR). It has been written for those interested in learning about the applications of OR techniques to military problems, and within these discussions theoretical concepts needed for analysis of military issues are presented. The book examines issues that relate to both tactical and strategic levels. Several examples have been solved in each chapter to illustrate the application of the techniques of MOR to military systems. The data used in these examples are hypothetical. They do not correspond to any existing weapon or military situations. They are used strictly to illustrate an application of MOR in defense decision-making.

Nature of the Beast (Military Science Fiction Series)
Nature of the Beast (Military Science Fiction Series)

The forces of annihilation

Throughout the galaxy, the near-invincible armies of the alien Remor have set their sights on one goal: the complete extermination of the human race. Outnumbered and outgunned, The Interstellar Defense League cannot afford to discard any asset — so a disgraced Sector Commander is being given a chance to redeem himself … by sacrificing his life.

The fate of Christoph Stone — and, perhaps, the destiny of all humankind — is to be decided on a distant frontier planet nestled deep in enemy-controlled space. Saddled with shockingly green troops, a captain with a checkered past, and a trouble-making civilian expeditionary force, Stone’s mission is clear and clearly suicidal. Because even his superiors are unaware of the weapon the Remor have waiting for the human invaders as they attempt to retake a captive world: an instrument of destruction that is demonic, unstoppable … and obscenely human.
